Choose Your Fabrics

Outer Shell

For the first time ever, savvy gear heads can choose between a selection of outer shell fabrics to find the perfect balance of weight, stretch, durability, and water resistance. Take your pick from several durable, breathable, water-shedding options to protect you from wind, snow, and snags.

Side Panels

Side panels extend from the hem on either side of the Insulight Jacket to just covering the arm pits on the under side of each sleeve. Meant to provide a self-ventilating mechanism, the fabric choice here is an important one, helping to refine the performance of your jacket to suit your unique requirements. Choose a more breathable fabric for fall mornings at the local crag, or opt for one that offers greater wind resistance for that epic alpine winter climb.

Cuffs

The cuffs of the Insulight Jacket are tight fitting and elastic to help keep the sleeves from riding up when your arms are at full extension. Choose from several types of soft shell fabric for the perfect cuff.

Select Your Features

Chest Pocket

A reinforced laminated chest pocket is the perfect place to stash your keys, credit card, or energy bar. Right handed? Place it on the left chest. Left handed? Place it on the right chest. Pockets aren't your thing? Choose no pockets at all. The choice is up to you.

Hood

The Insulight Jacket comes standard with a fleece-lined collar. Swap it out for an insulated hood for an extra level of protection during those times when the weather turns against you. The elastic hood includes a thin fleece lining in the chin area, to protect your skin from chaffing, fits comfortably over your head and snugly over a climbing or ski helmet.

Dial In Your Insulation

PrimaLoft® Synthetic Insulation

Like the warmth of goose down but need the water resistance of a synthetic insulation? PrimaLoft® insulations deliver. PrimaLoft® offers some of the highest performing insulations on the market for warmth, water resistance, and compressibility. Choose from several different types and weights, and we'll quilt it to the liner color of your choice. Bring just the right amount of warmth to your next adventure.

Show Your Wild Style

Choose Your Colors

Bright and bold, or subtle and stealthy, mix and match colors on the outer shell, side panels, chest pocket, zippers, cuffs, liner, and logo until you've found that perfect representation of your wild side.

Personalize It

Embroider your name, team name, or inspirational phrase on the chest or sleeve. Choose from popular fonts: Helvetica, Eurostile. Keep it clean. We'll be watching.

Outer Shell

Toray P501

Toray p501 Soft Shell

Toray P501 is a 50 denier, 100% Nylon fabric treated with a tough Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finish. This fabric offers a bit of extra stretch, allowing thermal garments to layer underneath comfortably, and is the lightest shell fabric in the mix. Choose Toray P501 when weight savings is of primary concern.

How Does It Work?

A tight Plain Weave enhances Nylon’s natural abrasion resistance and holds the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) chemistry well. The tight weave blocks the wind and forms a solid barrier to moisture. This is further enhanced by the DWR treatment.

Technical Highlights

  • Slight stretch enhances comfort and enables movement and layering
  • Naturally abrasion resistant
  • Lightweight but not so light that you lose strength and durability
  • An excellent performance value
  • 2 oz per yard fabric weight yet still has the strength and durability to give you many seasons of protection from wind and mist/drizzle

Epic Praetorian

Epic by Nextec Praetorian Nylon Shell

Epic Praetorian is a 70 denier, 100% Nylon fabric made with Nextec's patented encapsulation process. Weather resistance is inside the fabric. Fibers are encapsulated for weatherproof performance. No coatings or laminates to wear out, or wear off. The result? Our most breathable shell fabric with a high degree of abrasion resistance, an all-around great performer.

Gear made with Epic by Nextec® technology performs in every situation except those torrential deluges. Epic by Nextec® lets you move from sunshine to showers to snow flurries and back without switching your gear.

The Nextec® encapsulation process does not use solvents or other substances, which are hazardous to the environment and to workplace health and safety. Nextec® uses only 100% solid materials, which create no hazardous wastes.

How Does It Work?

Other performance fabrics rely on laminates, coatings or Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatments to provide protection. The Nextec® encapsulation process places an ultra thin polymer around the individual woven fabric fibers, providing wind/water protection from the inside. Tiny "micro holes" between these encapsulated fibers allow water vapor to escape, without allowing outside water and wind to penetrate. As a bonus, the encapsulation process adds strength to our 70 denier nylon face fabric, improving test results for abrasion resistance and tear strength.

Technical Highlights

  • Water resistant
  • Windproof
  • Breathability in extreme conditions
  • Low water absorption
  • Quick drying
  • Long lasting water repellency
  • Retains performance over washing
  • Retains body heat in wet weather
  • Spray Test (AATCC 22) – Initial: 100; after 5 launderings: 90

70 Denier MultiCam®

70d MultiCam Nylon

Our MultiCam® Nylon is a 70 denier textured nylon treated with a Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finish. This fabric is a staple in the gear we make for the U.S. Military and has been battle tested, literally. Extremely abrasion resistant, and lightweight, this is the only shell fabric in the mix featuring MultiCam®, the multi-environment camouflage pattern adopted by the U.S. Army.

70 denier fibers provide strength and abrasion resistance.

Technical Highlights

  • 2.2 oz per yard
  • Excellent abrasion resistance
  • Holds the DWR chemistry well for excellent resistance to rain and snow
  • Spray Test (AATCC 22) – Initial: 100; after 10 launderings: 90
  • Berry Amendment Compliant

Side Panels

Polartec® Wind Pro®

Polartec Wind Pro

Polartec® Wind Pro® fabric is extremely breathable and is able to provide four times more wind resistance than traditional fleece. Wind Pro® spans an incredibly wide range of conditions, performs as both an outer layer and an insulated mid layer, and offers exceptional durability. Wind Pro® side panels turn the Insulight into the ultimate self-ventilating jacket, keeping your body temperature regulated both up and down the mountain. No pit zips required.

How Does It Work?

Proprietary yarns and a very tight construction greatly reduce the effects of wind chill, the Achilles heel of traditional fleece. Polartec has proven its effectiveness both in the lab and in the field. Polartec® Wind Pro® blocks the wind four times more than traditional fleece.

The Durable Water Repellent outer surface sheds rain and snow. The velour inner surfaces efficiently trap air to provide a high warmth-to-weight ratio. Both surfaces of these fabrics are finished for maximum durability and pill-free performance. They retain their insulating ability and original appearance after repeated use and laundering.

Because it is not a laminate, Polartec® Wind Pro® is also highly breathable, maintaining 85% of the breathability of traditional fleece to keep you from overheating.

Technical Highlights

  • 8.8 oz per yard
  • Four times more wind resistant than traditional fleece
  • Warmth without weight
  • Highly breathable
  • Water repellent
  • Durable
  • Machine washable
  • Spray Rating (AATCC 22) Initial: 90

Polartec® Power Stretch®

Polartec Power Stretch

Polartec® Power Stretch® features body-hugging 4-way stretch and is very breathable. It keeps you dry when you sweat and provide warmth without weight. Power Stretch® is a very versatile fabric – with two unique surfaces: the durable, smooth outer layer is wind- and abrasion-resistant; the soft inner layer pulls moisture away from your skin keeping you dry, warm and comfortable.

How Does It Work?

Polartec® Power Stretch® keeps the skin dry through three complementary mechanisms:

  • The fabric is highly breathable and does not restrict the movement of moisture vapor.
  • "Touch points" on the fabric inner surface draw off the sweat. Sweat is wicked off the skin to the outside of the fabric, where it spreads rapidly for evaporation.
  • When the sweat reaches the outside of the fabric, it spreads out to many times its original surface area, enabling it to dry at least 2 times faster than cotton.

Technical Highlights

  • 6.8 oz per yard
  • 4-way stretch
  • Keeps your skin dry when you sweat
  • Highly breathable
  • Wind and abrasion resistant
  • Comfortable next-to-skin
  • Machine washable

520E MultiCam® Soft Shell

520e MultiCam Soft Shell

This single-layer lightweight soft shell, from Tweave, protects against a wide range of weather conditions and delivers extended breathability, water repellency, abrasion resistance, and just the right amount of stretch. The 6.5 oz/yd fabric makes for a lightweight and packable garment that can stretch up to 25% in either direction for ease of movement. We use this extensively in our military and law enforcement products. As an added bonus, it's made in USA.

How does it work?

The jacket is made of a unique plain weave, offering extreme strength and abrasion resistance with plenty of stretch. The user can count on excellent water shedding ability and wind resistance from this nylon/spandex fabric’s tight weave.

520E is treated with a durable water repellent to allow for water to bead on the surface in accordance with the AATCC 22 test method. The weight of the fabric allows for an extremely quick drying time. In the event that the garment does get wet, the fabric will hang dry completely in 45 minutes, at standard room temperature.

Technical Highlights
