Dean Potter
Dean Potter is best known for his achievements in highlining, BASE Jumping, and Wingsuit Flying. He is noted for hard first ascents, free solo ascents, and enchainments in Yosemite and Patagonia. Dean has completed a number of highline crossings without the benefit of a safety lanyard, backup line, or parachute. Some of these include lines suspended as much as 3,000 above ground in Yosemite National Park. In the summer of 2008, Dean became the first man to free-base to the summit of the Eiger and return to the ground by parachute. In the fall of 2010, Dean and climbing partner Sean Leary set the new speed record up the Nose on Yosemite's El Capitan, climbing the iconic route in just 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 45 seconds. Dean makes his home in Yosemite National Park. Dean is an original Wild Thing, having worked for the company in the '90s.
